WHAT THE @#%$@ is chair2there ?
Chair2there is the power to travel the world by simply watching videos from the chair behind your computer monitor.
To Watch Videos
To search for movies from a particular geographical location, eg.Bondi Beach, Australia: click on the “Bondi Beach” marker in Australia, on the world map found on our Home Page, or click on the World Map icon in the top right corner of each page.
This will bring up the Bondi Beach page, where you will find a list of thumbnail videos grouped in categories.
You can also watch category videos from around the world that aren’t destination specific by clicking on a category icon or thumbnail on the home page BEFORE you click on the World Map.
Cant find a destination on the map or in the list?
Chair2there is a new web site that will grow as our membership grows and more videos are uploaded in new locations. The team could of spent time and money collecting videos from around the world but we want our database filled by our tripper members so its more authentic and keepin' it real. This site is unique in that all the content and information is provided by members so if you are looking for a specific location but it is not on our list of defined locations, then it don't exist on the c2t website...untill somebody uploads a video from that place.So if you have a video from a place that isn't on c2t, you can be the creator of that destination page.Your id will be displayed on the page and you receive pioneer points for it,for info on this read the by the trippers for the trippers.
VIDEO CATAGORIES
ACCOMODATION: Videos of hotels, motels, backpacker hostels, dormitories, camping grounds, national park accommodation, snow chalets and anywhere people might sleep
FOOD & DRINK: Videos of restaurants, food stalls, cafes, snack bars, food vendors, etc. This is where you find videos of bars pubs, nightclubs and entertainment venues where alcohol is usually sold.
TRANSPORT: Videos of all things you can get a ride in; like busses, taxis, trains, planes, camels etc. And places where you buy the tickets or catch these things; like train stations or good hitch hiking spots etc.
TOURIST ATTRACTIONS: These are videos of landmarks like the Grand Canyon or destinations like the Taj Mahal or The Great Wall of China.Or perhaps a small Irish village famous for its music.
OTHER: This is the place for videos that don't fit easily into the other categories. A video of a walking trail,or a group of friends in a park somewhere or a local tribesman might best be placed here.
WHAT THE ?: Videos that show the strange, the exotic, the weird , the inexplicable or just plain funny and absurd. Stuff that is totally normal for the locals but hilarious to the outsider, e.g. Indonesian kids eating chickens feet.
HOOK UP
This is a way to meet other travelers on the road .If you need to share the cost of petrol or sell that ticket your not going to use or want a travel companion that speaks your language, or just meet with people on the same trip as you: check out the HOOK UP box. It is changed regularly and is date relevant, so you can meet up with other trippers in the place your in.
To answer someone’s Hook Up notice click on their member I.D. and when you are at their chair page send them a message.
You can also check if other c2t members are in the destination your traveling by looking on their personal chair page and in the data box next to the members photo is are 2 flags. One represents the country they are from and the other shows where they are now.
REVIEWS
To share your priceless information with others: post a note in the review box. For example if you have some good info on a great bargain hotel, eg. Hilton in Bali, go to the Bali page by clicking on the world map/choose Bali/select accommodation/click on post review.
MAPS
The World Map on the home page (click on chair2there logo), is a database of all the current videos uploaded to chair2there. The same destinations shown on the map are also listed in the drop down list directly below the map. The icon at the top right hand side of each page, Video Map takes you to a larger version of this map. This map has a tab that reveals a list of all the videos and destinations that have been uploaded. If you want to look at Bali videos, you can do this by clicking on the local markers
The maps that appear on the right hand side of the pages for each destination, such as, Bali or Bondi Beach, are for that location only. These maps can also be printed off.
On your member page (my chair) is a trip log map. This shows other members and yourself where you have uploaded your videos .Not only a record of you travels but also a reference to the videos other trippers are watching and a clear record of where they come from.Trip Planner also has a map to show the places you want to travel to.this map of videos and pictures can be sent to friends and relatives .
VIDEO THUMBNAILS
Listed under the video screen these are ordered in categories, but can be viewed by most viewed, or most recently uploaded. Change the view by clicking the tab above the thumbs. When you have selected a location from the video map, lets use Bali again as an example, and then you select a category ,say accommodation, the list of thumbnails will change to all the accommodation videos in Bali that we have on c2t. This makes it easy to check out lots of hotels in the place your interested in. If you’ve just arrived in Bali and want to see where you’re going to stay before walking around in circles, or if you want to book a place B4 you arrive. Or if you just want to check Bali out from the comfort of your computer chair back home.
Appearing below the category videos are the corporate video thumbnails. These are links to travel businesses’ that have uploaded videos to show some of the stuff they are offering for the tourist .These companies have become members the same way users become members except they are supplying info of their services in the form of videos. As c2t is managed by the trippers that have accrued enough points to gain admin powers it is possibly to get rid of or put on warning (walk the plank), any company that is distastefully pushing their product or spamming the site. If you find a company is screening videos in an uninteresting way that is UN entertaining or uninformative feel free to flag it as report abuse.
SEARCH
To look for videos in our collection by the tags (description) people have given them, just enter a word or sentence in to the search field.
TRIPPERS
These are a list of our members, other travel freaks that by clicking on their I.D. name will take you to their profile page, where you can see the videos they have uploaded etc. You can also send them a letter and give ‘em a piece of your mind or ask to add them to your friend list or maybe meet them on holiday. Our social network service works the same as My Space or Friendster, only better! and if you like you can put a link on your chair page to your other social site in the box with your photo, We just ask if you do that can you also put a link from your other site back to c2t???????
